Project Revisit: Pottsville Home

Facing west (with no maintenance), the timber cladding on this Byron Bay home is still looking incredible at 3 years.

We love revisiting a completed project to make sure our Vulcan timber and Protector Coating is living up to its promise - this family home near Byron Bay didn't disappoint.

Completed just under 3 years ago, the client used our Vulcan timber cladding with Protector - Teak; both on the front and back of the house - facing west and east (respectively).

Concerned with a high level of maintenance, the clients were attracted to the Vulcan’s stability and slightly textured surface (both key traits in reducing timber maintenance), and that Abodo had a specialised oil with a DIY type maintenance system.

The timber received 2 factory coats of the Protector - Teak, and a third and final coat, 2 to 3 months after the factory coating. This third coat up to 3 months after the second coat, allows the coating to cure, ensuring a maximum life span.

When newly completed.

Although the front faces direct western sun, the colour is keeping in close sync with the side of the garage.

The timber and oil is fading gently and evenly, as designed.

The rear of the house faces due east, and as a result will weather at a lesser rate.
