Thermally Modified Ash - A Dying Resource?

Thermally modified American Ash is a durable and attractive exterior timber, which is being decimated by the Emerald Ash Borer

Thermally modified American Ash - also known as Thermowood Ash is a durable and attractive exterior timber.

Unfortunately the American Ash resource is being decimated by the Emerald Ash Borer Agrilus planipennis (EAB), and hundreds of millions of ash trees have been destroyed in the United States alone.

It is suggested that the EAB made it to the United States in wood packaging from Asia.

If the EAB continues unchecked, it is likely to wipe out the bulk of American Ash species over the next 10-15 years.

This means thermally modified American Ash is likely to be severely limited in availability in the future.

Abodo Vulcan thermally modified timber is a great alternative to Thermally Modified Ash, and is sourced from FSC® certified Plantation forests in New Zealand.

The US Forest Service has created a website for Emerald Ash Borer.
