Abodo® Vulcan is thermally modified and engineered for greater stability and durability in changing conditions. Its distinctive vertical grain, lasting beauty and proven performance make it a considered alternative to old growth timbers for mountain homes, lodges, resorts and commercial architecture.

Mountain architecture needs a material that can respond to more than cold weather alone. At altitude, exterior siding may be exposed to snow and moisture, dry air, strong UV, heat and significant temperature changes, sometimes within the same day.

Vulcan’s proprietary thermal modification process reduces the timber’s tendency to absorb moisture, enhancing dimensional stability through changing temperature and humidity. Its engineered vertical grain further supports consistent weathering, helping reduce the risk of distortion, and provides a premium aesthetic with a clear grade virtually knot free appearance.

The result is a lightweight, refined timber created to retain its integrity through hot summers, cold winters and the changing seasons between.

Set against Colorado’s Flatirons, Panorama House uses Vulcan Siding in Protector – Walnut and Nero to create a rich, natural exterior that connects the home to its dramatic alpine setting.

The project experiences temperatures ranging from approximately 16°F in winter to 90°F in summer. Vulcan was selected for its textured vertical-grain appearance and its ability to weather gracefully while maintaining its structural integrity through changing conditions.
