We're proud to be a sponsor of the New Zealand pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, starting October 2021.
This year, the New Zealand pavilion is in the Sustainability District, with the theme ‘Care for People and Place’.
Abodo eco-timber battens, fins and panelling will be used in the interior fit out of the pavilion.
Abodo timbers are sustainably harvested from rapidly renewable New Zealand plantations.
Thermally modified with heat and steam rather than chemical processes, they’re safe for people and the environment - making them the perfect fit with this year’s theme and position within the Sustainability District.
World Expos are global celebrations of creativity, innovation,
humanity and world cultures, promoting New Zealand to an international
audience, while celebrating our values, innovation and creativity under
the theme Care for People and Place.
Expo 2020 Dubai will bring together 192 nations and 25 million visits over six months. Visitors will experience New Zealand’s culture and values, cuisine and design throughout the pavilion and its restaurant.
The New Zealand Pavilion’s theme reflects the Maori value of "kaitiakitanga", which emphasises the deep kinship between people and the environment.
Our indigenous culture is also highlighted through the pavilion's architecture, with a design that illustrates "waka taonga", the Maori tradition of using handcrafted containers to safeguard valuable items.
New Zealand will participate in Expo 2020 Dubai from October 2021 to April 2022.
